Artifacts
Artifacts are currently being unearthed by our archaeological teams. They will be carefully cleaned, analyzed and documented. Once they have been photographed, we will post pictures here. Eventually, the artifacts recovered from the site will be placed on display at the Education Center.
Below, you will find artifacts similar to what we may find during our excavation process. The artifacts pictured below include pieces of pottery recovered from a privy on Linden Street. Privies were often used to dispose of a wide variety of items before the days of regular trash pick-up. These items were donated to the Old House Society by Anthony Green.
If you are interested in participating in the archaeological excavation, we are looking for volunteers to help with the dig this spring. No experience is necessary, simply email us (volunteer@oldhousesociety.org) for more information.

The mark on the bottom of this saucer can be traced to the J. G. Meakin Company circa 1890. 3. These marks indicate the date the design was registered. |
