The Old House Society Education Center has moved to the OHS Warehouse.This move improves the effiency of our operations.The Center is already becoming the hub for Old House Society's educational activities. These include: Book Publishing - Information about Picturesque Bloomington 1907, Bloomginton-Normal Lost and our plans for more books. Gift to the Street Awards - awarded to buildings whose owners have maintained or restored its original architectural characteristics. The original education center was located at 904 North Linden Street in Bloomington, Illinois. Below is a list of some details involving the propterty. Archaeological Excavation - of the grounds surrounding the 1882 Cantine House. Our arcaeologists started the "Big Dig". In the past, they gave students from Illinois Wesleyan Univeristy a tour of the project. History - of the Cantine family -- the first owners of the house which was our Education Center. The Education Center housed our library and resources, reading room, historical garden, and period artifacts as well as offered hands-on workshops on preservation and restoration as we worked to restore the house to its origial 1880s condition.
