Gift to the Street
Since 1989 OHS has recognized the work of homeowners who restore or maintain their older homes in age-appropriate materials. The preservation of old homes as true to their original design as possible is central to the OHS ethos.
Homes eligible for the Gift to the Street Award are judged on their exterior only. Materials used must be the same as those available when the home was built -- wooden window frames, wood or stone siding, etc. Additions to homes should harmonize with the original structure.
